How Reboot works
Reboot turns a description, a piece of code, or a website into a complete app you own. This page covers building, remaking, changing, publishing, and launching your app's coin on pump.fun.
Overview
- StartIdea, starting point, code or website
- PlanRemakes get a written blueprint
- BuildA complete single-file app
- LaunchPublish it and launch its coin
Every app Reboot builds is one self-contained HTML file: the layout, styles and code all live in it. That makes apps fast, easy to download, and easy to host anywhere. Apps keep their data in the browser they run in (local storage), so they work without accounts or servers.
Your apps and all their versions are saved in this browser. Nothing is uploaded until you choose Publish or Launch coin.
Build an app
Describe it
Write what you want the way you'd explain it to a friend. Mention the screens, the main things people do, and the feel you want. For example: "A recipe box that scales ingredients by servings, with a weekly meal planner and a shopping list."
Pick a starting point
The starting points build your own version of an app people usually pay for, like a design tool, a docs app or a music player. Each one comes with a detailed brief, so you get a full-featured app from one tap. Your version gets its own name and look.
Free AI or your own Claude key
Building is free. Depending on how a Reboot site is set up, it uses a free AI, or simple mode, which builds a ready-made template app that matches your idea (a to-do list, kanban board, notes, chat, timer, flashcards, table, drawing canvas, music player, form or landing page) in a couple of seconds. Simple mode can also change an app's color, switch it to dark mode or rename it. For better apps, open Free AI in the top bar and add your own Claude API key from console.anthropic.com. Builds then use Claude and are billed to your Anthropic account. Your key stays in your browser and is sent only to Anthropic, never to Reboot's server.
What to expect
Every app is built to a quality bar: every button works, there are proper empty and error states, it works on phones and desktops, it has light and dark themes, and it opens with realistic sample content.
A progress bar shows how far along the build is, how long it's taken and roughly how long is left. New apps usually take a few minutes. Changes are faster: Reboot sends back only the parts that change, not the whole app. If an answer gets long, Reboot continues it automatically in parts.
Remake a website or code
From a website
- Choose Remake a website and enter the address, like
linear.app. - Optionally say what should be different: your business name, extra features, a new look.
- Reboot reads the page: its structure, sections, colors, fonts, headings and links.
- Claude writes a blueprint: every screen, feature, data type, interaction and design choice. You can open it in the chat.
- Claude builds the app from that blueprint, implementing every item.
Some websites block automated reading, and some pages are built entirely by JavaScript. If the result looks thin, use Paste the page's code instead: open the page, right-click, choose View Page Source, copy everything and paste it in.
From code
Paste code in any language or framework (React, Vue, Python, PHP, an old jQuery page) and Reboot rebuilds its full behavior as a single-file app. Large pastes work best when they include the main screens and logic.
Branding
Remakes copy structure, features and feel, not someone else's brand. Your app gets an original name, logo and wording, and images are replaced with clean placeholders. If the brand is yours, say so in the box and Reboot will keep it.
Change & versions
Type what you want in the chat beside your app: "Add a search box", "Make the colors warmer", "Let me export to CSV". Claude sends back just the parts that change and keeps everything else, including data you've already saved in it. For big changes it rewrites the whole app.
Every build is a new version. Use the version menu above the preview, or Go back to version in the chat, to return to any earlier one. Smaller, specific requests give the best results.
Switch between Desktop and Phone to check the layout, and open Code to see or copy the source.
Publish & download
Download saves your app as one .html file. Open it in any browser, or upload it to any static host.
Publish uploads the current version to IPFS, a public file network, and gives you a link anyone can open. Publishing again after changes creates a new link. Published files are public and permanent, so don't publish anything private.
Launch a coin on pump.fun
Every app can have its own coin on pump.fun. You launch it from your own Solana wallet: you're the coin's creator, you pay the launch costs, and pump.fun pays the creator fees to you. Reboot never holds your funds or keys.
What you need
- A Solana wallet browser extension: Phantom, Solflare or Backpack.
- About 0.03 SOL for the launch, plus whatever you want to spend on your first buy.
Step by step
- Open your app and choose Launch coin.
- Check the name (up to 32 characters), ticker (up to 10), description and image. Reboot makes an image from your ticker; choose Change to use your own.
- Optionally enter a first buy in SOL. It's bought in the same transaction that creates the coin, so nobody can buy before you.
- Choose Launch on pump.fun. Reboot publishes your app (it becomes the coin's website) and uploads the image and details.
- Approve the one transaction in your wallet. When it confirms, your coin is live and Reboot opens it on pump.fun.
What happens on-chain
| Step | What it does | Who pays |
|---|---|---|
| Create | pump.fun's create_v2 makes the token and its bonding curve, with your wallet as creator | You: account rent and network fee |
| First buy | Buys tokens on the new curve in the same transaction, capped at the SOL you entered | You: the SOL you entered plus pump.fun's trading fee |
| Priority fee | Helps the transaction land when Solana is busy, added when it fits | You: usually well under 0.01 SOL |
If something goes wrong
- You cancelled in your wallet: nothing was launched and nothing was spent.
- Not enough SOL: lower the first buy or add SOL to your wallet.
- Name too long to fit: a create plus first buy only just fits in one Solana transaction. Shorten the name or ticker.
- Transaction expired: Solana was busy or the approval took too long. Try again; nothing was spent.
Limits
- Apps run in the browser. Features that need a server, like real accounts, payments or sync between devices, are simulated in the app.
- Apps can't embed other websites, and can only call public services that need no key.
- Very large apps may need a couple of rounds: build the core first, then add features one change at a time.
- Apps are saved per browser. Clearing your browser's site data deletes them.
Host your own Reboot
To run your own copy of Reboot with real coin launches:
- Get a free Gemini API key, a free Pinata key for IPFS, and a free Solana RPC URL from Helius.
- Import the repository into Vercel with
appas the root directory. - Set the environment variables below and deploy.
| Variable | What it's for |
|---|---|
GEMINI_API_KEY | Builds apps on Google's free tier (server only) |
ANTHROPIC_API_KEY | Optional, paid: build with Claude instead (used only if GEMINI_API_KEY isn't set) |
PINATA_JWT | Publishes apps and coin details to IPFS (server only) |
PINATA_GATEWAY | Optional: your own IPFS gateway for images |
VITE_RPC_URL | Solana RPC the browser uses to launch coins |
VITE_CLUSTER | mainnet-beta (pump.fun runs on mainnet) |
Before sending anyone real SOL, check the launch transaction against mainnet. This builds the exact transaction Reboot sends and simulates it without sending it or spending anything:
cd app
npm run simulate:launch -- https://your-rpc-url 0.01
With the free Gemini key, hosting Reboot costs nothing. Google's free tier has daily limits shared by all visitors, and Google may use free-tier requests to improve its products.
FAQ
Do I own the apps I build?
Yes. The code is yours to change, download, host and sell.
Is remaking a paid app legal?
Building software with similar features is common. Copying a company's name, logo, artwork or written content isn't okay, which is why Reboot gives every remake its own branding. Check with a lawyer before you sell a remake commercially.
Does Reboot take a cut of my coin?
No. Your wallet is the coin's creator, and pump.fun pays the creator fees directly to it.
Why did my build stop?
Builds stop if you press Stop, lose your connection, or hit a usage limit. Your earlier versions are safe; send the request again.
